peru's book

While reading Stern’s Peru Indian Peoples and the Challenges of the Spanish conquest I was able to make some comparisons between Stern s book and that of Ciendinnen This book is a much easier read that the previous book in this class. They are very similar topics  being this discussed in the book like in the other books read in class.  The beginning starts with the discussion of the life before the conquest. This reminds me of the Conrad and Demarest book that the set up was the same. The depiction during the fist pages is of a pre Columbian society. There was a division in the people and some sided with the Spaniards. Those natives to Huamanga were in favor of the overthrow of the Incas. This book makes a clear distinction between all the tribes that are in the regions, and also shows how the geography of the region is. This book also talks about the taxation system of the Spanish and how they implemented it and managed to get a lot of wealth. Towards the end of the chapters it talks about how the Andean Indians became more acceptable of the colonization and their adaptation.
