An additional thought on Colonialism

While reading a few pages from one of my Islam books (on where the negative image of the religion has stemmed from), there was an interesting definition of Colonialism. It states, "Colonialism, in short, was based on brutal and efficient military conquest."

In that paragraph it talks about Algeria's war of independence 1954-62, saying that around 1,000,000 Algerians died, while only about 30,000 Frenchmen died.

An interesting thought.
